The Trust Your True Nature (TYTN)  Low-Carb Lifestyle  highlights the traditional foods consumed by humans for thousands of years, and are still consumed by many Hunter-Gatherer tribes who enjoy good health.

In fact, we as a nation used to consume these very foods up until several decades ago, prior to the advent of the Industrial Revolution when processed, refined foods and plant oils began to replace the locally produced animal foods and fats many of our great grand parents grew up on, while remaining maintaining a healthier weight, and living relatively free of our modern diseases.

The TYTN Low-Carb Lifestyle is an outline for a healthy diet, but can be modified according to one's personal needs and health goals.  The book features many super simple meal suggestions and recipes that are quick to prepare, delicious and satisfying.  

I also share a bit of our own health journey as we experimented with the entire spectrum of dietary styles, most recently a very produce-rich, plant-based, and higher protein macrobiotic diet.

While this is a low-carb diet plan, or what we call a hypercarnivore diet, it is not based on rigid rules of what you should or should not consume, nor is it a precise formulaic approach.  

I do not give specific meal plans, nor make strict recommendations of the total amount of macronutrients ~ proteins, fats, and carbs ~ that each person should eat, as each person has different needs.   However, I do recommend maximum limits on total carbohydrate consumption, which can vary depending on one's condition, and energetic expenditure.

Our Low-Carb diet plan encourages you to learn to eat more instinctually, and let your body guide you to your most optimal food selections ~ for YOU!

I also share my own experiences, how to customize according to your needs, what to expect, and suggestions for supplementing your diet.  I've included an outline of all of the topics covered, below.

Your body knows what it needs to thrive.  The problem is, your minds get in the way.  

We are all very influenced, whether we are aware of it or not, by mainstream media and statements repeated over and over again ~ accepted as fact, whether they were ever proven or not.  

Learning to trust your true nature offers a more empowering approach, after all, don't you want to become more in control of your health destiny?  

Wouldn't you enjoy eating in a way that is so satisfying, that you no longer have uncontrollable cravings?  And you can eat enough to be satisfied, and remain focus for hours, without even thinking about food?

Like all other animals, humans have been equipped with  sensory organs that are intended to guide us towards the right foods and life situations.  All we need to do is get our mind out of the way, and let our body be the guide!  

Your own direct experience will dictate what is best for your health.  While we all have times where we need an outside, 'expert' opinion, we still are responsible for our own choices.  No Body outside of you knows better what is best for you!

Often, what the so-called experts tell you is misleading, reductionistic, or simply not backed by the actual evidence that has existed for several decades, if not longer, but kept from the mainstream public.  

Blood tests have a place, but you must understand that they are also used to determine if/when to prescribe medications!  Statins, for example, are the number one prescribed drug, yet having low cholesterol is not beneficial for long term health and longevity, in fact, quite the contrary has been found to be true.  High cholesterol in and of itself is not a valid marker for heart disease.

The approach outlined in our TYTN Low-Carb diet book can help you improve your energy, moods, skin, hair, and overall health.  Safe weight loss is an added benefit for those desiring.

While we have come to believe that a diet of low-fat, lean proteins, like chicken or turkey breast, and low-fat or non-dairy milks, along with plant oils, fruits and vegetables is a 'healthy' diet, while eggs, red meats, and saturated fats are 'unhealthy' this is not necessarily the case.

There are many components to plant foods that can be problematic to our health. Simultaneously avoiding the most nutrient-dense foods deprives us of needed nutrients that can help us enjoy healthy skin, hair, vision, and overall health, while potentially causing gastro intestinal disorders that can eventually lead to leaky gut, and worse problems over time.

This has become the epitome of a 'clean' or 'healthy' diet.   Meanwhile, many of our own clients who have come to us with a laundry list of health complaints, refuse to believe that it could be related to their diet.  People are quite attached to beliefs that may be sabotaging their ability to regain health, without relying on pharmaceuticals and/or surgeries.

That being said, it is always beneficial to support local farmers if and when able.  You can also look into getting in on herd share programs, or start your own homestead!

After five+ years eating what I thought was a super nutrient-dense diet, I found myself prematurely aging, with dry skin, and ongoing loss of motivation and fatigue.

I rationalized these symptoms away, preferring to stick to the belief that eating animals was bad for our health.  I figured I live in a dry climate, so my skin is dry.  I am working hard, so I'm tired.

I learned never to doubt my own true nature, and the messages my body was sending me through my various symptoms, including ongoing phlegm congestion, horrible allergies, tendonitis that never healed, and lots of twitchy joint pain, to name a few.

Most startling is that I had a difficult time gaining muscle mass, and losing body fat while eating a low-fat diet!

The TYTN Low-Carb Lifestyle  includes animal foods as primary staple food choices.  

Animal foods provide important nutrients, like iron, zinc, selenium, choline, and many B vitamins that can easily become deficient for long term vegans.  They are in a more bio-available form, and easier to assimilate.  (I list a few common symptoms of deficiency here.)

For many years, I believed the many advocates of vegan and vegetarian diets claiming that other than having Vitamin B12 levels checked, and getting adequate sun exposure, you can easily meet your needs  from a well planned vegan diet.

However, whole grains, whole or refined grain products, beans and legumes, and even nuts, seeds, and many greens and vegetables contain phytic acids, and other 'anti-nutrients' that block absorption of many important minerals, causing subtle, low-level deficiencies which can show up as significant symptoms over time. 

Based on our own experiences and recent research, we no longer recommend a vegan diet for anyone long-term.  Nor do we recommend having plant-based heavy diets, as they lead to nutritional deficiencies for most people over time.

The insulin effect on the body from consuming excess carbohydrates ~ including so-called 'healthy' carbs, like grains, pastas,  potatoes, and even excess fruits and vegetables ~ are a more likely source for obesity, diabetes, and many other of our 'diseases of civilization.'
